What next?
Well on the previous page we at ConnaughtCT mentioned planning and planning is the answer.  To help you with your plans we’ll ask some questions:

  1. What do I either want or expect from my website?

What is the purpose of my website?

They seem obvious questions but the obvious is so often overlooked just because it is just that “obvious”. This obvious question is the most important question you can ask and all the other answers will be based on this foundation. The answer may be very simple i.e. “I want to sell my products.” But whatever the answer it will lead to the next question i.e.:

  2. How do I want to achieve this?
How do I want to sell my goods – online – by getting more customers into my premises? All factors you need to consider when marketing your business over the internet. Oh yes as indicated on page one, your website is your “Online marketing presence” and at least as much consideration needs to be given to building it as you would give to a t.v. or radio advertisement. Also consider your target market – what age and demographic group are you targeting? All important when considering design and colour schemes.

  3. We at ConnaughtCT suggest that now you’ve decided what you want from your site you need to consider design.

What sort of layout do you want?

Do you already have a company logo or not?

Do you have a company colour scheme?

How many pages do you want and what is their content going to comprise of
(Don’t forget you have to write this content so be clear as to what you want)?

What graphics do you want to include?

Again you have to supply decent quality and sized electronic formatted graphics (By graphics we mean photographs, clip-art, vector art or any other pictorial representation). We prefer larger format because it easier to make a large picture small than to even attempt making a small picture large (It very often just doesn’t work and looks awful). Remember that it is your responsibility to ensure that any graphics you include in the site are either Royalty free or Royalty paid – if you don’t and you get caught the fines are large. The other thing with graphics, make them “Real”, personal to your business – your visitors will quickly work out “Stock” photos and statistically it has been proven will leave the site that much quicker than where “Real” graphics are used.

  4. Wow lot’s to be thinking about…

So what now? ...... Lets move on to the next page:- Moving On
